C'est Finie!
This was a great class to me. We argued and talked a lot about different issues like racism, how media affected us, we also dared to explore new groups by joining and going to club meetings at FIU, and we get a chance to express our feelings about an issue that we liked. I enjoyed the last essay because it gave me the chance to put a lot of information on a topic that I really like, Global Warming. It was difficult for me to do all the quotes because I'm not used to quote stuff, but it was helpful and I learned how to do it! Tutoring also helped me a lot because they went through my essay and helped me change my spelling and grammatical mistakes and brought some harmony to my essay. Natasha was a good professor who was calmed and friendly, but yet taught us well and made us learn our material. Overall I enjoyed the class and had a great time!

Devils Advocate appeals against Global Warming...# 9
Global warming has now been a major concern for the organizations such as the United Nations, but the thing is...how do we know it is real? In fact, the glaciers are melting...but the reality is that this has happened in the past, due to natural climate changes and the radiation of the sun rays towards the Earth. The U.N. is investing too much money in research that could end up showing that global warming was never real, or just a phase that our planet was going through but was able to recover from it. In the other hand, the United Nations should care more for the disasters that are going on right now due to poverty, hunger, and wars. They should start projects and researches in how food could be given to millions of people in places such as Africa, Asia, and how they could help to stop the spreading of diseases. They should also help the nations in the Middle East affected by the wars and conflicts that are a reality in those places. That alone would safe thousands of people. Overall, the world has biggest problems to fix right now and unfortunately organizations such as the U.N. are focusing on possible problems that we might face in the future. That is why I think Global Warming is a waste of money, time, and intelligence.

Racism & The Dark Reality
First of all, as someone said once, there is always going to be racism. No matter who you are, how educated you are, and/or what the situation is. It is a natural way to express a certain feeling of dealing with something, or someone, different to us. Now that mentioned, there is respect and knowing how to deal with the situation in order to don't offend anything or anyone, deal with the way one feels, and evolve in order to overcome or at least learn to accept it and not make anything or anyone feel bad because everyone deserves a chance to be accepted and understood. I think that what Don Imus did was wrong because if that is the way he feels towards women, he should have been respectful and polite enough in order to do not offend them and also to do not lose his status as a educated man. From the two videos, the first one convinced me because that guy is a mature guy, but like 50 cent said, he already made his money out of the hip hop industry as a singer. Overall, I think there are many issues in our society, and one of them is indeed the way that hip hop has the presence of bad language and expressions. These comments appealed my values because I was thought to be respectful with other people by not mentioning certain words and expressions, but I unfortunately do use them sometimes in the wrong moments. They have some evidence going on, but they should try to change the perspective that people have towards them: Hip Hop singers say profanities in all their songs and promote young people to do the same as well. They should also educate themselves more and try to come up with better ways to defend their point of view, instead of trying to cover up the issue with a bigger issue, just like 50 cents did on the 2nd video; when he said that the media is trying to cover up the war and more serious issues with the fact that hip hop music has bad language in its songs. I personally believe that they are both attacking and respecting their opinions because both the consumers and the suppliers of the Hip Hop industry have the fault of having these profanities on Hip Hop albums, but if people would really care about this, we would stop buying Hip Hop singer's albums, concert's tickets, and so on in order to boycott them and make them once and for all stop using bad language on their songs.

Taboo...BLog #7
I found both videos interesting, but the one that got my attention the most was the 1st one, the video that shows how a boy becomes a man somewhere in Africa. I personally think that cutting someone's skin is really dangerous and hazardous for that someone because the person can lose blood, infections can get into his body, it leaves scars, and so on, but I think is an original and yet intense way for a boy to make the transition to become a man. They also are somehow humiliated in order to let them know how important this is for their tribe and how they have to respect their elders. I think this is sort of an extreme way to become a man because I find it inhumane, but it sure makes them realize how important it is and it helps them realize their new responsibilities in life as a man. It is like the Jewish tradition of the bartmitzvah, but with more meaning to it; more soul, dedication, suffering, and appreciation of what they went through to become a man.
The other video was really interesting too. It shows how traditions and believes can change people, not only morally and mentally, but also physically because this video shows how women in a tribe in Asia..?...go through a process to get a longer neck. I think this is also a little too extreme, but it is somehow pretty and it shows how dedicated they are to their people and their customs and how they dare to be different and are admired by their unique beauty. Some people might find this custom crazy, but hey! People here in the States get tattoos, piercings, plastic surgeries, and so on just to feel more comfortable with themselves, or just to fit to society and sometimes it does not even have a meaning for them to go through all those processes in order to achieve certain look, or just to belong to society. I admire these women because they go through this change for them, for their families, friends, and their traditions.

Love Is Gona Save Us...
Well, as a lot of people say, love is the best feeling that we humans can feel. It goes from material love, such as love towards objects...ohh! i love my cell..heheh, even though it gets me in trouble sometimes...to love towards people, such as love to a best friend, love to a family member, and so on...but the kind of love that is so strong that can even change the way people behave and think is the love towards a special person... a person that one meets and might think...hum...i dont like this person, or humm this person is attractive, or sometimes is just love at first sight! but at the end, if its meant to be...its meant to be...ehhehe, geez! How cheesy..
I dont know if I have been in love before...I have just been in two relationships...the last one just ended but hey! it was cute while it lasted...and yeah...love can bring the best and the worse of people. It is really sad to see a couple that argue all the time about stupid stuff, or even worse, when they are either physically or verbally violent to each other...but it is really nice to see a couple that love each other, that take care of each other, and that could last a lifetime together...
Im talking about this topic because I hope to find that special someone because Im just tired of finding shady people, or just doing stuff...sexxxy stuff with that person! ehhehe, I want love! so yaaa! hopefully love is gona save us! because now a days, everyone wants to have a good time and forgets about the precious feeling that love is..but untill I find it...I guess that if I cant beat them, I might as well join them! ehhehe...I dont know if this is what YOU were looking to see on this weeks blog, but I tried to open up a little bit with my blog, and here I am! soo GOO LOVE! MAKE LOVE N DONT MAKE WAR!

Social Issue...Euthanasia
Euthanasia is the practice/decision that someone takes to end someone's life; someone who is suffering and is in such a terrible health related situation that the best solution to relief that person from his/her pain would be to give them some rest, by taking their pain/life away... Here in the United States, euthanasia is a legal procedure that can be done only by doctors to patients who are in a terrible situation and the only way to give them peace would be throughout death. However, in other countries, such as Panama and Latin America in general, this practice is illegal or not chosen unless there is anything else that they can do, and unmoral because they prefer to try to save the person's life and save them or even keep them alive until they die by natural death. In some countries, if a doctor commits euthanasia to one of his patients, even with the patient's will to die, the doctor could go to jail and pay a fee even if it was the best medical decision to take. I think that people/doctors should have the right to take someone's life if there is nothing else a doctor can do to save that person's life because by taking their life away, they also take the huge amount of pain that that person is suffering because of his/her medical situation and is a way to give them peace and eternal rest. Sadly in some countries this is forbidden mainly because of religion, which plays a big role in Latin American countries and controls people's mentality and common sense through the bible and morals. I am a religious guy, but I still think that euthanasia...and even abortion...should be legalized in lots of countries because even if it is not legal/morally accepted, people suffer because of this and have a painful death. I chose to talk about this issue because my great aunt is dying from stomach cancer and other issues and there is nothing the doctors can do in order to save her, and yet she is still alive, in a tremendous amount of pain, and begging to die in order to stop the suffering that she is going through, but sadly, there is no way that she can die peacefully and she is waiting until God has mercy and takes her life away.

Funny man...Carlos Mencia...
I have seen his show a few times and I think he is a funny man. His strong topics are racial and sexual issues, I think and I like how he puts together his opinions about how America deals with these issues, how some people pretend that they dont happen anymore, and how he shows the reality of them...how people do not really like Mexicans, Hispanics, and how degraded they are, how people make fun of mentally disabled people, and so on.
He is addressing this issues to a normal American person because he says what most people might think, but do not dare to say because it is mean, unprofessional, or just not respectful. I would say that he is right in some of his opinions, but I think that he is quite rude and way too honest. In my personal experience, I usually do not say some of the things that I think because I think..hum....if i say this, even though is funny, it might hurt this person....so I try to first think what I say...and then maybe say it out loud.
I agree with his way of pointing out topics that for most people are taboo topics or dont feel comfortable talking about, but I do think that he goes a little too far just to be funny and quite hurtful to the people who he makes fun of. I think he should still do his stand up comedy acts, but he should try to think about other people's feelings. I do sometimes feel offended by the things he says about Hispanics because sadly, some are true and that is why I think that even though he is one of us, he should be respectful to our community...but I also have to say that he is too funny and I know he does not really mean it...he is just trying to make money out of our pain! ehhehehe... =D

Media In Politics...
The media completely influences us...because of it, we are the way we are, we make famous people with or without talent, and basically more people now more about the pop culture, than about important things such as politics, economics issues, and the situation of our world. Media totally influences me, the way I think, and what things I like and dislike because we want to fit in a world in which we are accepted by what the media and other people want us to be, but not by who we truly are. Visual communications are, in my opinion, the biggest influence in our everyday decisions because if we see an add of something with someone famous, or a brand name, we would rather buy that instead of a no name/fame less brand, even if the name/fame less brand might be better/cheaper than the name brand. That is a good thing for companies, but it sort a messes up our trully decision making process because even if we like something that is not cool or popular, we rather get something that we dont like in order to fit in and belong in a group that is accepted by society and the media. I personally think that media should use its power on us in a way to help us, our planet, and our future because we are destroying more our culture, our own people, and sadly, our own planet.
Media presence on politics is just big when they can get something out of it and they dont really focus on the main importance of politics, which I think is a better future for us and our country, but they just focus in making the president, senator, w/e, into a popular icon so that he/she can get more votes an win...without even really convincing us if he/she is worth our vote and our will to give him/her our future in their hands. I found the video a little different, but it went straight to the point... YOUNG PEOPLE DO NOT REALLY KNOW ABOUT POLITICS. Sadly i belong to that group. We dont really care about politics because we cant do anything about it, at least that is my opinion, and I would rather listen to a pop culture news rather than a politics news. The media should try to focus more in the real issues of our society, rather than which celebrity has more money, looks better, is going to have a comeback, was on a sex video, and so on because we do not really attain anything from that information; just knowing stupid facts.

Miss Teen USA!!!
I personally believe....lol....I think it was really challenging for her to face the reality of what happened and that she admits that she was nervous and I would say scared. I cant blame her! I cant imagine how much stressing and hard it is for a girl to be competing against other girls in a beauty contest, specially one that is watched by thousands on national TV. I agree with the fact that those beauty pageants are mostly based on looks, but what I really did not like about her speech was that she tried to bring out topics such as South Africa, kids, and Iraq. I did not like this because she just brought them up to sound nice because those countries are under terrible circumstances and I dislike the fact that people, even in beauty contests, use those facts to like win other people's sympathy and to get their attention. Besides the issue that I had with her bringing those topics, I understand that she was under a lot of pressure and that she got nervous and just tried to say something nice, but unfortunately for her, totally funny for us, it came out wrong!!! She is a beautiful girl that thanks to that embarrosing moment of her life, became more famous than the winner of Miss Teen USA!!! so...yayyYY! eheheh, gooo blonds!!!
